Raptors Mess Up By The Celts

Toronto played listlessly last night and lost to Boston , 87 - 95 . The Raptors abandoned their usual unselfish game and had only 16 assists . T.J.Ford tried to pull his team up singlehandedly in the 4th quarter as he scored 14 of his 28 points . Before you T.J. haters criticized him for his one man show, note that T.J. has the blessings of coach Sam Mitchell. Sam put 2 point guards , Jose and T.J., at the same time in the last quarter. What could be the reason ? One, Chris Bosh was struggling big time (5 of 19 shooting) , Dixon was DNP , and the bench particularly Mo Pete was ineffective (0 points in 7 minutes of play only) . ' Players should know that they cannot work themselves up in the game ' said an apparently pissed Sam after the game. Oh yeah. Mo can't sure work himself up sitting on the bench either !
The Raptors lost the game but more importantly lost versatile Jorge Garbajosa due to leg injury . The big Spanniard was injured as he fell akwardly going for a block shot on a driving Jefferson. Garbo was in tremendous pain crying as countryman Jose Calderon covered his face. Jefferson glanced at Garbo's injured leg then quickly covered his eyes and turned around. It's a horrifying sight I'm sure. ' It looks similar to what happened to Shaun Livingston of the Clippers earlier this season ' said Donny Marshall of Boston TV. Uh oh . That means trouble for the Raps. Isn't Shaun's season dead 'cuz of leg injury ? Yes . To the fans of the Clippers, he is Shaun of the Dead !

Heather Mills in Dancing With Stars : Don't worry , Jorge. You can still play with a wooden leg . Look at me !

It was suggested to me that this was a game the Raptors could afford to lose. If there was a night to lose without major consequences, this would have been it.

But I just don't know how you lose this badly – the game wasn’t as close as the score said it was. The Celtics have some nice players, but come on; we made Jefferson look like an all-star.

More importantly than that, Garbajosa went down hard and awkward, and we can all only hope the injury is not a serious as it seemed.

they had a lower seed, with a better record bonafied, going 47-35 or something that season. i would take that to this years record anyday (regardless of what seed we are becuase the Raptors don't make it out of the first round, especially if they have to play Chicago). BUT, this team has far more upside, so there is hope.

As far as TJ goes, he seemed extremely aggitated all night. he finally snapped and went on a tear in the 4th. would love to know where bosh was last night, Bostons front court should have been taken to school by him last night. sadly, the pendelum swung in the other direction.

I assume that I am one of the Ford Haters. But, personally I feel like more of a broken record about a part of his game he needs to clean up.

He seems to try to play outside of himself when he gets emotional. And he seems like an emotional guy!

Personally, in the first bit of the game last night he played great. But then something went off and he tried to do everything turned the ball over again and again.

sam-i guess there is no one game we ca afford to lose until the end 'coz of playoff positioning.you don't want a miami in the 1st rd.

b.b.- yes you're right.it's the highest seed for the raps and the 1st time they will clinch the atlantic d. title. thanks to their efforts and most esp. the weak a.d.

f.m.- t.j. is someone you either love or hate.no in between.sam- i noticed last night bosh and tj bickering in 1 play. chuck noted that during one timeout, that bosh was 'said something' abt. his teammates. hmm. is that another bosh bashing bargnani moment?

john- clyde sucked last night accdg. to one radi report.i watchs him the other week.i'm not impressed.

nelson- being a t.j. hater is not unusual.as i've said, the raps fans are divided into 2 , haters and lovers of t.j..before he joined the raps, i wrote a post saying the the t.j. was not exactly a pass 1st PG as many raps fans believed .the bucks reportedly want him out 'coz he shoots too much.
the partner of celts tv heinsohn said last mon., t.j. wants out of the bucks 'coz he of too few shots for him . i guess the same story here.

I have two knocks TJ:

1. sometimes he throws ridiculous passes to people. At this point of the season, he should know all the players, where they like ball, and how hard they like it.
2. he misses far too many layups. granted they are in traffic, but come on man, that is what pro players should be doing.

As far as not being pass first, well, he gets 8 assists a game, and what he does makes him dangerous. he gets into the key, and takes those nasty pull up jumpers that are so hard to defend against.

I don't know what to make of the Bosh chewing someone out during a timeout. But an observation is that it seems everyone is on a short fuse. I think there is some disharmony among the players, coaches, equipment people or something. Lets see if they can rebound with a win tonight against the Heat.

sam- i see t.j. as too strong a personality. maybe too strong for bosh.

it was this play. boston was on a fastbreak with both bosh and t.j. running down to depend. t.j. pushed bash to take the one w/ the ball. too late, a celtic scored (i think it was powe). bosh and tj mouthed something to each other after the basket.
there's a raptors timeout soon after.it was then swirsky noted the scene.

bosh must think he's not to be pushed around in front of thousands of people no matter what. i agree.
